Movies
Here I'll be reviewing movies I've recently viewed. I'm not a highly
critical movie reviewer but I'll give you my take on them. I won't go into
detail because I don't want to ruin a movie for anybody. I basically just
give the thumbs up or thumbs down for checking the movie out.
Spiderman
(8 out of 10)
- This was a little better than I thought it'd be. I thought it'd be more
along the lines of X-Men, more serious, but it had more comedic value. At
first I wasn't too sure how Tobey Macguire would do but he did fine. After
watching the movie I realized Kirsten Dunst is not so hot. Willem Defoe
was perfect as the Green Goblin. You get to see Randy "Macho Man" Savage
looking as huge as ever as a wrestler Peter Parker takes on. The scenes
where he's swinging around the city makes me wish I could be bitten by a mutant
spider. This will certainly become an addition to my collection.
Star Wars
(7 out of 10)
- Let me first start off by saying I'm not a big Star Wars junkie. I
thought it was a good movie and I know it's only part of a series but the ending
was weird because it's the beginning of a war. Yes I know Episode 3 will
go where 2 leaves off, but I left the movie feeling uncompleted. It great
to see Yoda fuck some shit up. The cast was good and Natalie Portman is
hot. I had a few problems with the movie like when Anakin goes to find his
mother and does it in like 15 seconds. I guess it would bore everyone to
show his journey. It seems like they skipped a couple steps and I would be
left wondering, "How did they get there?" I was kind of bored the first
half of the movie as I dozed off two times for a few seconds. Overall it
was still a good movie though.
Hardball
(6
out of 10) - Despite the somewhat low rating, I really
liked this movie. Keanu Reaves isn't the greatest actor as we all know,
but he did an ok job in this movie. The cast of the kid's baseball team
was good also. The movie is quite shocking at times because you really
don't expect some of the things to happen. And not just the events, things
like the language. It is a very funny movie and I don't mean Keanu's
acting. Rent it, it may surprise you.
Sixth Sense
(7
out of 10) - Haley Joel Osment does a good job in this
movie. The story is very original keeps you tuned in the whole length of
the movie. I became somewhat involved in the movie. I liked how it
all comes together at the end. The entire movie builds up until then.
It is a suspenseful movie so I think it's a good movie to watch with a girl.
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
(9
out of 10) - Ah, what a classic. This movie has
become one of my all-time favorite movies. Who can forget Spicoli or Mr.
Hand. If you grew up during the 80's, you must've seen this one.
Clearly life in high school has changed since then but there are some things
that never change like the class pothead(s) or the dreaded teacher. There
is a plethora of stars before they became big in the cast of this movie. I
highly recommend adding this to your collection.
Gattaca
(5
out of 10) - This movie came highly recommended to my
by one of my cousins. So instead of renting it first, I just went ahead
and bought it. It's a ok movie, but I don't think I would've bought it had
I watched it first. The movie has an interesting plot but the pace bored
me. I haven't watched it in a while so I don't remember a whole lot about
it. That just goes to show you what kind of impression it made on me.
Jude Law was good in it though.
Boiler Room
(6
out of 10) - I liked this movie because it deals with
money. When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a stock broker. This
movie is why I'm glad I never became one. Giovanni Ribisi plays a kid from
the streets trying to make beaucoup bucks. This movie will make you wonder
how often this stuff happens in real life. I don't think everyone will
rave about this movie after they watch it. It's not a great movie, but
it's not a waste of time.
Snatch
(8
out of 10) - It's pretty fair to say that Brad Pitt is
a good actor. He proves that in this movie. I think everyone in this
movie did a good job playing their role. If you don't understand people
with heavy accents, you're going to have to listen carefully when the Pikeys
talk. It's a funny movie and it has a good unique story. I think
everyone would like this movie.
Rush Hour 2
(8
out of 10) - Damn Chris Tucker is a funny mother fucker. Jackie
Chan and Tucker provide a hilarious 2 hours of movie enjoyment. The first
movie was good and this one does not disappoint. I hope there's a Rush
Hour 10. The fighting scenes are pretty good but it's the comedy that
makes this film good. There isn't anything bad to say about this one so go
check it out. I'll probably add this one to my DVD collection.
The Score (6
out of 10) - Why only a 6? Don't get me wrong, the movie was
pretty good. It didn't have the intensity throughout the whole
movie. It did get better at the end though. DeNiro knows how to pick
his roles because he's a complete badass in this one. Kissing a black
woman probably enticed him too. The plot was original to me and the cast
was good too. I think it's the first time I've seen Marlon Brando
act. He is one big mofo, no wonder he needs to live on his own
island. Check out the movie, it's date worthy.
Kiss of the Dragon
(7
out of 10) - Jet Li is the man. His English has improved
greatly. This movie had pretty good fight scenes. It was able to
keep my interest throughout the whole movie. The plot wasn't bad but it's
similar to one of Jacki Chan's movies. It's still worth checking out
though.
The Fast and the Furious
(6
out of 10) - This was better than I thought it'd be. The plot
wasn't incredibly dumb. The cars in the movie are pretty cool, but they
have mad graphics all over them. The movie isn't all about racing
either. There's actually a story to this movie, it's not a 2 hour car
show. It's probably not a date movie unless your chick likes cars.
Swingers (8
out of 10) - This is the ultimate guy movie. It's not action
packed or anything but everyone can relate to it. It's like watching you
and your friends go out. You get to watch Jon Favreau go through a break
up and try to hit on girls. His antics are quite funny. Some of you
may act like he does in the movie, that's bad. In the movie, Vince Vaughn
is the mack daddiest. His character is the guy all guys want to be.
I highly recommend buying this movie.
Tomb Raider
(6
out of 10) - I don't really know anything about the video game but I
know the character Lara Croft is every video game geek's dream girl. They
did a good job with casting Angelina Jolie because she looks like her. The
movie reminded me of The Mummy but probably a little bit better. Don't
waste your money on a date with this movie. I'd possibly rent it when it
comes out. Oh, for you pervs out there, you get to see the side of her
boob. That's right geeks, you can see Lara Croft's boobie.
Castaway (7
out of 10) - I saw this at the movies but my friends and I rented
this the other night. It's a really good movie but if you're as fidgety
and impatient as I am, this could be a hard movie to watch. It's not that
bad though. Tom Hanks is such a good actor. It's pretty much just
him for more than half the movie. It may drag a little, but you'll stay
curious to see what happens. The plot is original and you may be surprised
to see how the movie ends. Rent this one!
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka
(4
out of 10) - I was at Tower and I saw this on sale for ten
bucks. I remember seeing this a long time ago and it was funny as
hell. This time around it didn't seem as funny. The first half of
the movie is hilarious, but it drops off after that. The cast consists of
Keenan Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans, Kadeem Hardison, Jim Brown, Isaac Hayes, and
a young Chris Rock. This movie reminded me of watching silly movies as a
little kid. The story line was ludicrous but that's what makes it
funny. It was an ok buy for ten bucks but if it was twenty, probably
not. The DVD cover alone was worth a chuckle.
Seven (9
out of 10) - I'm not sure what to say about this one. I had
never seen this movie but I bought it anyway since everyone likes it. This
movie was quite disturbing. After the first half hour, I was wondering if
I was going to end up puking at some point. The whole time I was thinking
in my head about what's going to happen in the end and I was pretty much
right. I've come to the conclusion that Brad Pitt is an great actor.
I've liked him in everything I've seen so far. Kevin Spacey was good too,
I've always liked him. The plot was very original and interesting.
Everything was well thought out. The story keeps you involved and thinking
the whole time so you never lose interest. I didn't really have any
problems with this movie. I would recommend this movie without a doubt,
hell go buy it.
The Mummy Returns
(5
out of 10) - Hmm, where do I begin? The first movie was
alright, so I thought I'd go watch this with my friends. I'm not sure if
that was money well spent. I don't think it was better than the first
one. The special effects were pretty cool, but that was about it. I
don't remember the lead actress, Rachel Weisz, being so hot in the first
movie. This movie had the characteristics of a Pauly Shore movie with some
seriousness and special effects. I'm not just saying that because of
Brandon Frazier, who's been in a Pauly Shore movie. I'm not a huge fan of
his. The comedy was a bit lame at times. The plot was mediocre and
was a bit unbelievable but hey, it's Hollywood. So I would rate this movie
as just ok. I'd say watch it if a friend rents it or if you're getting
cable or DSS illegally.
A Knight's Tale
(6
out of 10) - I didn't really know what I was going to watch when my
friend asked me to come along to see this movie. I then remembered seeing
some previews for it before and I thought that it'd be a cool movie. I
thought this was going to be a drama but it was more like a comedy. The
plot was definitely original to me. It was pretty funny throughout the
movie. It'd be a good movie to watch with a girl. I' m pretty sure
the cast was a bunch of unknowns, at least they were to me. Wat, played by
Alan Tudyk, was absolutely hilarious. His character reminds me a bit of
me. Although, I don't go around beating people. Oh yeah, the
soundtrack. The soundtrack was horrible. Sure it was a comedy but
damn people. In the opening of the movie, "We Will Rock You" was
playing. I thought it was silly and then I noticed that the crowd in the
movie was chanting it. Now that's where I draw the line. How can you
mix songs they'd play at a hockey game and a movie about knights? I would
say it's worth renting or possibly watching it on a date.
